Can you separate the art from the artist? The art is a reflection of the artist & if they are a great artist, a glimpse of the divine that they have been the channel for. Yet the artist as well as any human being may see their own life as the true masterpiece. You can appreciate the piece on its own but it must be viewed with the entire body and soul of the work in order to be appreciated in true context. Philosophically an interesting movie, amazing dialogue, the characters are real and it asks many questions without providing too many answers. Well done!

I regret trusting the opinions of mostly everyone here. I'm not sure what Tar I saw, but it wasn't as incredible as everyone makes it. If you enjoy dialogue movies, this one is for you. If you expect a movie about live concerts and long musical scenes, you won't find it here. Also, be prepared to sit for three hours. I only stayed for the whole movie because I love every movie Cate plays in. Her facial expressions and movements are so rich, and true, and that alone makes it a good movie if you are a fan of hers.

Saw this today. Good Movie but the trailer is a total scam lie edited piece of editing to make this seem like some fast paced suspense filled psychological drama, akin to Fatal Attraction or something of the sort. It’s not at all. Good movie as I said but horrendous trailer

Cate is my favorite actor. So I am actually amazed at myself for not liking this film. Long story short, she overacted. She never convince me she was actually the person she was portraying. It seemed at times she was reading off a cue card.
