Turns out it was their new Skyactiv technology specifically SkyactivX. While we were a little bummed it wasn't the rotary, our dismay was alleviated as we started to learn all about this impressive technology. This is something I was quite anxious to film and show to you, and it's about an Ape Car Proto, powered by a Honda 600cc engine, driven and built by Loris Rosati. I'm not 100% sure but I think most of my foreign followers probably never heard of an Ape car. Well, an "Ape car", or simply called Ape, is a three-wheeled light commercial vehicle produced since 1948 by the Italian company Piaggio (same producer of the more famous Vespa). The Apes (Ape means "Bee" in Italian) featured 50 cc, 125 cc, 150 cc and 175 cc engines. In the current ones you can find a proper car steering wheel but usually they are controlled with scooter style handlebars. It was designed to host just the driver but, tightening a bit, 2 people could fit in the little cab. With a very low top speed, a good torque and thanks to its dimensions you can find most of this little vehicles on mountain villages for light delivery works. Given its popularity here in Italy it's more than obvious that sooner or later someone would have found a way to make them race in organized championships. In fact, in 1991, in the North of Italy there was the very first race for Ape Protos: heavily modified Apes, with more powerful motorbikes engines, motocross derived suspensions, quad rear tyres and many other mods based on the owner's liking. Generally these races are against the clock, but it can happen to find some GP-like competitions, and they take place on dirts, tarmac, snow or ice. The most funny and entertaining thing to watch is when some of these crazy builds are called to make some show runs during major events, such the one you see in this video where Loris and his #95 Lightning McQueen Ape did during the 2018 Italian Historic Cars event in Camaiore, on a narrow "slalom" street circuit! BMW engine manufacturing at the BMW Brilliance Automotive plant in Shenyang. The plant builds vehicles exclusively for the Chinese market. The Dadong plant in the northeast of the city opened in 2003 and currently produces the BMW 5 Series Long-Wheelbase Version. Going forward, this facility will also build the plug-in hybrid variant of the BMW 5 Series and the new BMW X3. The Tiexi plant in the west of Shenyang, which went on-stream in 2012, builds the BMW X1 Long-Wheelbase Version (including a plug-in hybrid variant), the BMW 1 Series Sedan, the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer, the BMW 3 Series Long-Wheelbase Version and the BMW 3 Series Sedan. The engine plant, which opened in 2016, produces the latest generation of the BMW TwinPower Turbo three and four-cylinder petrol engines. We're restoring an Iraqi Type 69-II (T54) tank engine. It was captured during the 1st Gulfwar in 1991. The tank has been on display in UK since then. #Mercedes Benz #AMG NEW 2022 V8 Engine #Production. AMG V8 engine factory! Engine assembly according to the production philosophy of "one man, one engine". Mercedes-Benz AMG 63 V8 #Engine Production. The dry weight of the AMG V8 engine is only 209 kilograms. The aluminium crankcase is sand-cast and produced in closed-deck design. This provides maximum strength and low weight. The two turbochargers are in a so-called "hot inside V" configuration. This allows a more compact design, optimised airflow and provides perfect incident flow for the exhaust gas turbochargers. The result: optimum response from the engine and improved emission values. In order to ensure that maximum temperature and thermal conductivity is provided, the cylinder head alloy has been refined with zircon. And for maximum durability and friction-optimised operation the cylinder-bore surfaces are coated with the NANOSLIDE technology developed by Daimler. Our most important component part? Passionate dedication. The M176/M177/M178 is a V8 petrol engine range designed by Mercedes-AMG, replacing Mercedes-Benz M278 engine and Mercedes-Benz M157 engine, and is based on the Mercedes-Benz M133 engine Car factory. The engine has two BorgWarner turbochargers positioned between the two cylinder heads in a "hot-V" configuration. The fuel injection system uses Bosch's new piezo-electric direct fuel injectors that deliver five squirts of fuel per combustion cycle Mercedes AMG Manufactory. The M176 engines are mostly assembled by machine with some components assembled by technicians at Untertürkheim manufacturing centre outside Stuttgart. Types of V-engines Explained A V engine is a common configuration for IC engines. It consists of two cylinder banks with an equal number of cylinders in each bank, usually connected by a common crankshaft. These cylinder banks are arranged at an angle to each other so they can form a "V" shape when viewed from the front of the engine. V engines typically have a shorter length than equivalent inline engines. V6, V8, and V12 engines are the most common layout for car engines with six, eight, or twelve cylinders, respectively. The first V engine, a two-cylinder V-twin, was designed by Wilhelm Maybach and used in the 1889 Daimler Stahlradwagen automobile. Compared with an inline engine, a V engine has a shorter length but is wider. This effect increases with the number of cylinders in the engine. The length difference between V-twin and straight-twin engines might be insignificant. However, V8 engines have a significantly smaller length than straight engines. Compared with the less common flat engine, a V engine is narrower, taller, and has a higher center of mass. In this episode of The Driver’s Seat, Henry Catchpole drives the new Caterham Super Seven 600. It’s like a restomod that normal people can afford. Ok, it doesn’t have a quilted engine bay, but so much of what is appealing about cars like the Porsche 911 reimagined by Singer or the Alfaholics GTA-R or the Eagle E-type is present and correct in this little British sportscar. That idea of connection, emotion and back to basics old-school motoring values is present and correct and it costs less than £30,000. With just 84bhp and 86lb ft of torque (yes, really) from its tiny 660cc, three-cylinder engine, it might sound like it would be slow and sleep-inducing. But it also weighs just 460kg or 1014lbs and has delightfully short gearing, so it actually feels surprisingly swift. Being closer to the road than the line painted down the middle means that every mph is exaggerated too. The diminutive size of the Caterham also allows you to explore roads that would be off-limits to supercars. Whether it is dashing along between the reeds in some marshland or climbing tiny back lanes to spectacular vantage points, the Seven feels like it is up for an adventure. Admittedly there has to be a touch of the adventurous about the driver too, particularly if it’s the middle of winter in the UK and the temperature is below freezing. Henry also gets into some of the history of the Seven, with an amusing story about Colin Chapman’s original Lotus Seven. The Norfolk firm finally stopped building the mk4 in 1973, since when it has been down to Caterham to keep the flame alive. This is not the first time you see one of these crazy and quite hilarious cars on my channel. But I'll give you a summary anyway. An "Ape car", or simply called Ape, is a three-wheeled light commercial vehicle produced since 1948 by the Italian company Piaggio (same producer of the more famous Vespa). The Apes (Ape means "Bee" in Italian) featured 50 cc, 125 cc, 150 cc and 175 cc engines. In the current ones you can find a proper car steering wheel but usually they are controlled with scooter style handlebars. It was designed to host just the driver but, tightening a bit, 2 people could fit in the little cab. With a very low top speed, a good torque and thanks to its dimensions you can find most of this little vehicles on mountain villages for light delivery works. Given its popularity here in Italy it's more than obvious that sooner or later someone would have found a way to make them race in organized championships. In fact, in 1991, in the North of Italy there was the very first race for Ape Protos: heavily modified Apes, with more powerful motorbikes engines, motocross derived suspensions, quad rear tyres and many other mods based on the owner's liking. Generally these races are against the clock, but it can happen to find some GP-like competitions, and they take place on dirts, tarmac, snow or ice. When they're not raced, it's very common to find them at various local events or exhibitions in order to entertain the crowd with some show runs like in this video. The physical principles behind car gears. Visit my homepage, 🤍 or read about my latest book 🤍 This video offers an unusual perspective to the relation between engine power, RPM and acceleration. Some comments: 1) Torque - a gear of radius R that exerts force F is said to have a torque of T=R*F. Engines do not produce force per se, but torque. So if the engine produces a torque of T, and that is transmitted unchanged to a gear of radius R, you a get a force of T/R. The video offers an alternative view, where the relation between RPM, power and accelartion is explained without torques. See more about torques in this video: 🤍 2) Efficiency - this video assumes and ideal world with 100% efficiency. No energy is wasted on friction or any other mechanical losses. 3) Another simplifying assumption is that the engine produces a constant torque, and thus a constant force. As mentioned in one of the comments in the end, this is not the case with real engines. In most engines the torque rises as RPM rises, peaks at some RPM, and then starts to fall. Because of that the power does not steadily increase with RPM. It increases in the beginning, and continues to increase a little bit after the torque peaks. Then as the torque starts to dimish significantly, the power reduces as well. 4) Measurments - here are the measurments used in the simulation: 16 teeth gear radius: 18cm = 0.6 ft Force exerted by this gear: 196N = 44.1 lb Car wheel radius: 21cm=0.7 ft Car weight: 352kg = 775 lb 5) The car wheels are slightly bigger than the 16-teeth gear, and this is adds up to the gear ratio effect. In the first car, for example, while the transmission box has a gear ratio of 1:1, the larger wheels cause an overall gear ratio of 1.18:1. This can be seen at time 2:25, where the wheel's power visualization is slightly elongated (a bit more speed and a bit less force).

In this simple video we will explain all the steps involved in this process, from the ignition to the operation of the internal combustion engine. When you get on your car the first thing you do, after putting the seat belts on, is to insert the key in the ignition switch to start the engine. When the switch is turned on, the electric circuit between the battery and the starter motor is closed. The starter motor is an important element for the starting system. It allows the engine to reach the proper rpm so as to initiate the engine's operation under its own power. The starter motor essentially transforms the electrical energy into mechanical energy. The starter motor is coupled to the FLYWHEEL, which in turn provides to transmit the motion to the CRANKSHAFT. Now the combustion cycle takes place inside the engine cylinders, so the starter motor is disconnected. Now let's see what happens inside the engine, taking the example of a common 4-STROKE ENGINE. A four-stroke engine is an internal combustion engine widely used in cars. It represents an example of efficiency and perfect synchronization. It converts the explosions that occur inside its combustion chambers into motion. The 4-stroke engine in fact gains its energy from heat released during the combustion of the air and fuel mixture inside its cylinders. The aim of this engine is to use this energy to provide movement and transfer it to the wheels, so that the vehicle can move. This process requires only 4 simple steps: It all takes place inside the cylinder. Here we can find the combustion chamber where the explosions occur. The cylinder is basically the space through which the piston travels. The purpose of the piston is to transfer force from expanding gas in the cylinder to the crankshaft via a piston rod or a connecting rod, so that the back-and-forth linear motion of the pistons is transformed into a circular motion which can power the wheels. But let's see this process more in detail by disassembling the engine. 02.34 This process requires only 4 simple steps: It all takes place inside the cylinder. Here we can find the combustion chamber where the explosions occur. The cylinder is basically the space through which the piston travels. The purpose of the piston is to transfer force from expanding gas in the cylinder to the crankshaft The term “four-stroke” is reffered to the cycle of engine operation which requires 4 strokes of the piston: First stroke: INTAKE: The valve must be in the open position while the piston pulls an air-fuel mixture into the cylinder by producing vacuum pressure through its downward motion. The air and fuel were previously mixed together by the injectors. The air-fuel ratio is generally about 14.7 to 1. That’s becouse fuel cannot ignite alone. It is the oxygen in the air in fact that provides the combustion of the fuel. What happens now that the air-fuel mixture is iniside the cylinder? Second stroke: COMPRESSION: During this stage both the intake and exhaust valves are closed, and the piston moves up the chamber to the top. This cause the compression of the fuel-air mixture which decreases 10 times its volume. At this point pressure rises drastically as the air and fuel molecules are compressed together colliding with eachother and increasing the temperature. Now we are ready for the explosion! Third stroke: COMBUSTION and EXPANSION: At the top of the compression stroke, the SPARK PLUG fires, igniting the compressed air-fuel mixture. This causes an explosion! As the fuel burns it expands, increasing the pressure inside the cylinder and driving the piston downward moving the twist that rotates the crankshaft, which will convert the energy of the explosion into rotary motion. Now, let’s see the fourth and final stroke, which is called: EXHAUST. During the exhaust stroke, the piston, once again, returns to the top while the exhaust valve is open. This action expels the spent air-fuel mixture through the exhaust valve. The 4-stroke cycle is complete but it does not stop here. At a speed of 6000 rpm it repeats up to 50 times per second, causing 200 explosions per second inside each cylinder of this 4-stroke engine. In 4 steps this engine creates a great amount of energy and is very efficient in a very small rpm range.

First I found a used and abused go kart on craigslist and we got that running. Then we tore apart the Pink Power Wheels Mustang, cut the go kart chassis to fit in the toy car then pulled the motorcycle engine. We welded engine mounts in the front of the kart for better weight distribution then installed a 240cc Honda Dirtbike engine. This crazy kart build was an absolute blast and we will be doing and filming plenty of projects like this so stay tuned!
