Notes: -These tips should work for MOST styles of hearings aids - My hearing aid type is behind-the-ear, in the canal. I have severe hearing loss in both ears. This is the model I currently have (Audeo M R-T at the bottom of the page): 🤍 - Right now you may be wearing a mask in addition to hijab & hearing aids. If you only have masks that fasten behind the ears, modify your mask to not go behind your ears by pinning it to your hijab (like so: 🤍 or loop a piece of ribbon between the two ear loops & tie behind the head over your hijab. - A recommendation of a Youtuber: Samantha Mariam, aka Sam Vlogs, & on instagram 🤍samantha.mariam , is one of my favorite hijabis online... & she wears hearing aids! Check out the hijab styles she wears, theres a lot of inspiration there. I believe shes had them for 2 years. She tends to go with a loose style which she starting wearing more after getting hearing aids. -A short post about hearing loss as a Muslim: 🤍 Helpful Questions & Answers: Q: Does wearing hijab create interfering noises? A: Not if you wear it correctly. First-time hearing aid users will notice interfering noises more. These noises can commonly come from your own hair or the wind, not just hijab. Your brain becomes used to these noises & ignores them over time. You can completely eliminate these noises though by wearing hijab in ways that reduce friction & barriers (I discuss how in the video). Q: Can wudhu be made with hearing aids? A: Yes, your hands only need enough moisture to get your ears properly wet, they do not need to be soaking & splash your ears. Most modern hearing aids can touch skin or hair that is damp without harm (but always avoid wetness as much as possible), but if youre concerned, take them off for wudhu. Q: How can glasses be worn with hearing aids & hijab? A: I recommend contacts if you can wear them. However, I am stuck with glasses for work due to astigmatism, so I feel your pain if this is you. All of the tips from the video should apply here, but the one to focus on is not having anything tight around your ears & cutting holes in your underscarves. Next time you buy glasses, purchase frames with thinner arms to lessen bulk behind the ears. Q: Are there hijabs specially made for hearing aids? Are they necessary? A: Ive only found one link for hijabs that are specially made for hearing aid users: 🤍 Is this necessary? In my opinion, no. There are many solutions which can give you the same freedom without being stuck with specialty hijabs. I love the thought behind the design, & wish more companies would try it, but I dont think it is necessary. Q: How can a cochlear implant be accommodated? A: I do not wear a cochlear implant but I believe the tips in my video can be modified for it. When cutting your underscarf (if you wear one) make sure you cut a hole for the magnet (this video uploaded by a Jewish head-covering company is the only one I know of out there who has a video similar to hijab covering about it: 🤍 The biggest thing that I understand about cochlear implants is that a lot of people experience pressure & discomfort. Minimize this as much as possible through cutting holes in your underscarf, pinning at the chin, & wearing your scarf loosely around the ears. Karnataka High Court continued hearing on Thursday over the ongoing hijab row. Students wearing hijab have been denied entry into schools and colleges since last few weeks. Protests have erupted both for and against hijab. The matter is subjudice as students are just weeks away from their exams. The bench, consisting of Chief Justice Ritu Raj Awasthi, Justice Krishna S Dixit and Justice JM Khazi are hearing a bunch of petitions challenging the ban on hijab. The Supreme Court has declined to urgently hear the appeals against Karnataka High Court's interim order (the written order has not yet been issued) banning religious dresses in schools and colleges in the state. Chief Justice of India NV Ramana said the apex court will interfere only at an appropriate time. “I don't want to express anything. Don't take it on a larger level. We also know what's happening in the state and the hearing and you also have to think over whether it's proper to bring it to Delhi," CJI said. Meanwhile, colleges in Karnataka continue to remain shut while schools for classes 9 and 10 will reopen from Monday. The Supreme Court resumed hearing in the Karnataka hijab case on Tuesday. The petitions by students has challenged the Karnataka High Court's order upholding the ban on wearing hijab by Muslim girl students in the state. Senior advocate Dushyant Dave appearing for the petitioners made a controversial statement in defense of the hijab contending that the hijab makes women look dignified. He said, "The government argued that protection under Article 25 and 26 is with religious practice which forms integral and essential part of the religion. A practice may be religious practice but not an essential and integral part of practice of that religion. The latter is not protected by constitution, this is what they said. I will deal with that.' The Supreme Court is hearing petitions challenging the Karnataka High Court's decision to ban the wearing of hijabs in educational institutions. The case is being heard by a bench of Justices Hemant Gupta and Sudhanshu Dhulia. The Karnataka High Court is scheduled to resume Day 7 proceedings in the hijab row case today. The high court will hear the government's arguments in the ongoing hijab controversy. On Friday, February 18, Advocate General Prabhuling Navadgi informed the high court that the College Development Committee (CDC) has been empowered to decide on the dress code in educational institutions. He said that the government will not interfere in this matter. Meanwhile, former Actor Zaira Wasim has condemned the Hijab ban and said 'Hijab is not the choice but an obligation in Islam'. Karnataka Leader of the Opposition Siddaramaiah on Sunday attacked the Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai-led state administration and termed their order on uniform code, "a conspiracy to obstruct Muslim girls from getting an education." “The [Karnataka] government could have solved this [hijab row] problem. If students can wear a turban, why can't students wear a hijab? Girls have been wearing them for a long time, there was no breach of peace then. In its hearing on Hijab showdown, the Karnataka High Court said that it won’t entertain any intervention applications being filed directly before it. "Any urgent application has to be filed at the appropriate counter. Not before the Court. File it before the counter and let it come before us," it said. The Supreme Court today said that it will hear the case about the hijab ban in Karnataka at an “appropriate time”. A girl in Karnataka had approached the Supreme Court after the High Court yesterday advised students to avoid wearing "religious garments" until it decides on a case involving hijab restrictions in schools and colleges. "Don't spread these things to a national level. We will interfere only at an appropriate time," Chief Justice NV Ramana said, declining an urgent hearing on the petition. The Karnataka High Court resumed hearing the government’s response in the ongoing hijab case today.
