ShopJimmy is not responsible for any harm that you may cause to yourself or damage to your TV, during the repair process. Try all repairs and troubleshooting at your own risk. Be sure to take all of the proper safety precautions. In this video we will show how to use the minipro TL866CS eeprom programmer. Here we have the box for the eeprom programmer and all of its contents along with two adapters. In the box, you will receive a mini cd, with programming software, a USB cable to connect the programmer to your computer, nine blank eeproms, the programmer, and two adapters. This is how to connect the USB cable to the programmer. The other end here, connect to the USB port on your computer. Start by flipping up the lever, then place your adapter into the slots, on the top of the programmer. Be sure to align pin 1 as shown in the diagram on the programmer. Once the adapter is in place push the lever down to securely lock it. Push down on the top of the adapter to open the pin terminals. Correctly align pin one on the eeprom according to the diagram on the programmer. Once the eeprom is aligned, use the tweezers to push down on the top of the eeprom to hold it in place, and then release the top of the adapter to create the best connection. Open the programming software. Choose the device to program to. Load the file to be programmed. Click on the programming button. Click Program. Programming should begin immediately. If you receive this error, go back and reseat the eeprom in the adapter and then try again. If you receive the error 5 times, it means there could be something wrong with the actual eeprom, and you should try a different eeprom. The yellow light on the programmer, will light up when programming. Programming time can vary depending on the file size. You may also receive an error halfway through the programming. At that point, that means there is something wrong with the chip and you should try a different eeprom. Next, we will show how to read data from the eeprom, and save it to burn to a new chip. If the chip is damaged or corrupt, you will not be able to read the original data. Select the device you are reading from. Click the Read from Chip button. Click Read. After the read is successful, click Cancel. Click Save. Choose a location to save the data. Click OK, after a successful save. TV Repair Made Easy™ © 2016 ShopJimmy.com, LLC.

{44} Quick comparison of three very capable EPROM programmers

Of the 12 programmers I have, I only use three on a regular basis. These are the XGecu TL866II Plus, the Martin Eberhard ME2700 orphan programmer, and the Willem PCB6.0E SPI/EPROM programmer. Interestingly, there is actually very little overlap between the capabilities and purpose of these three. For $50, the XGecu is by far the most versatile but can be glitchy on the software and has an 18V programming limit. The ME2700 comes as a bare board & build kit, is the only one that can handle the 2708 EPROMs (12-26V programming) and, by far, is the best documented and is about $55 for the bare board and PIC processor. The Willem PCB6.0E (12-25V) is the only one that can handle chips bigger than the 2732 that programming voltages above 18V, is a complete SPI programmer, and still comes in around $50 fully assembled. Both the ME2700 and the Willem PCB6.0 offer superb technical support. CORRECTION: I said in the video that the external adapter is required for the PCB6.0 to use the higher *programming* voltages, that was a mistake and is incorrect. The external power supply is required to have *Vcc* voltages above 5V. The PCB6.0 with just USB is 5V but with the external supply it can go up to 6.2V UPDATE: KEE electronics has confirmed that the PCB6.0 will not work with USB to parallel adapters and even laptop parallel ports can be problematic. Making a Rom for the BBC Model B micro with a TL866II Programmer

Making a Rom for the BBC Model B micro with a TL866II Programmer *UPDATE* There is one additional thing you need to do if you are using AT28C256 Chips and that is this. Pin 1 of the Chip needs to be tied to +5v so the BBC accesses the Upper Memory Block else you will get problems IE the Rom not working. If you connect Pin 1 to 0V then it accesses the lower block, I have found the +5 works perfectly. I did not know this at the time of making this video. Everything else still stands. I recently bought a TL866II programmer with the idea of making Rom's for my BBC and my Yamaha CX5m Computers. Sadly I still cant get one in the yamaha to work. But I was able to make one work in the BBC as there wasnt that I could find a video on how to do this, I decided to make one.

Modify the CH341A EEPROM Programmer (Black Edition) for 5V 93XXX & 95XXX Automotive Use

In this video I'll go over a combination of programmer software, EEPROM adapter, and programmer printed circuit board (PCB) modifications to allow +5V 93XXX (e.g., 93C66) and +5V 95XXX (e.g., 95040) SOIC8 / SO8 EEPROMs to also be supported by the ubiquitous CH341A USB MinProgrammer (Black Edition), in addition to its usual SO8 24XXX and 25XXX device support, but now in +5V as well (e.g., 24C08). With this support you can use this programmer to change VIN information in most Radio or Body Control Module (BCM) types sold in the USA from the 1990s and early to mid 2000s, as well as to perform odometer mileage correction manually in these same BCMs or an instrument cluster, for example. In order to reliably write some SO8 EEPROM devices encountered in automotive circuits a +5VDC supply and programming voltage, rather than the default +3.3VDC, is required. This particular inexpensive programmer can be easily modified for this automotive module voltage requirement and allow for doubling the number of supported devices in doing so as well (from 2 to 4 EEPROM families) as shown in this video. While not all SO8 EEPROM devices can be written, or even read, in-circuit of automotive module circuit designs many can, and for those that cannot this programmer can still provide a very inexpensive DIY solution for light duty repair projects off circuit as well. These inexpensive programmers lack the over current protection or pin protection of most general purpose programmers, which allows them to be used for in-circuit reading and writing as well as off circuit for many (though not all) automotive modules. *NOTE: In order to read 93Sxxx security devices you will have to explicitly connect pin 7 (PRE) to ground (pull low) rather than leave it floating like I showed for 93CXXX devices.* *CH341A USB to Serial Device Driver* Here is a link to the Microsoft Windows specific USB serial device driver from the actual manufacturer of the CH341A chip that forms the heart of this particular black edition EEPROM programmer: 🤍 *AsProgrammer EEPROM Application Software* The only reliable programmer software I have found to work with this Black Edition CH341A for 93XXX and 95XXX support, as well as retaining the 24XXX and 25XXX series, is a more recent private fork version of the open source AsProgrammer project (which is for Microsoft Windows only). Here is a public forum link to version (earlier 1.4.x and 2.0.x public versions do NOT work with 93XXX devices and the Black Edition) and so I can only recommend this closed source version or higher (just the link.txt file has what you need): 🤍 Here's a translation of the Russian page to US English JUST FOR READING, the link.txt file for the download location usually will not work from within a Google translate page: 🤍 *NOTE:* the above link is within Google Translate (since it's on a Russian electronics site where this AsProgrammer project was discussed) so you won't be able to click the mega.nz download link.txt from that post directly. You'll instead have to post the contents of the forum posts link.txt attachment in another tab outside of Google Translate to get it to show up to download. *Purchase a CH341A USB EEPROM Programmer (Black Edition)* And finally here is an eBay affiliate search link if you are looking to purchase one of these CH341A USB EEPROM programmers (be sure to pick a Black Edition by photo): 🤍 And an Amazon affiliate search link if you shop there instead: 🤍 _If I've saved you some $$ here, consider some coins for the coffee tip-jar!_ 🤍 Chapters: 0:00 - Mod overview 1:56 - 93xxx adapter 5:21 - 5VDC rework 7:05 - 93c66 EEPROM testcase #drshock #ch341a #ch341 _Disclaimer: DrShock, the alias for the human content creator for this YouTube channel, is not responsible for any damages, injuries, losses, or liabilities associated with any repairs, upgrades, or maintenance performed on yours, or any other, vehicle whatsoever.
