Here's the next Three-For-All lesson with 3 Andy LaRocque & Michael Moon Licks From 1987. This lesson came directly from your requests this month and fits October's "metal month" theme perfectly. Andy LaRocque is a metal guitar legend known for working with King Diamond steadily since 1985. His work with other artists such as Death, At The Gates, Evergrey, and many others have secured his status as a metal guitar legend for decades. Michael Moon on the other hand, was the touring guitarist for King Diamond during the Abigail tour in 1987 and was only 19 years old when he was handpicked to be a part of that tour. While his name may not be familiar to most viewers out there, his licks/ideas in this lesson are interesting and musical. Andy & Michael's dual live solo also featured an interesting harmonized classical-style etude at the end - much in the style of Marty Friedman and Jason Becker during their Cacophony days. This lesson features an interesting chromatic run (with a few variations), a phrased harmonic minor idea, a busy finger-rolling arpeggio lick, and more. Death's "The Philosopher" from their 1993 album "Individual Thought Patterns" Lineup: Charles "Chuck" Schuldiner - Lead Guitar and Vocals Andy Laroque - Lead and Rithm Guitar Steve Digiorgio - Fretless Bass Gene Hoglan - Drums Death was an influential American death metal band founded in 1983 by guitarist and vocalist Chuck Schuldiner, considered a "pioneering death metal vocalist/guitarist". The band split up after Schuldiner's death in 2001. Death is considered one of the most influential groups in death metal. The band's debut, Scream Bloody Gore, has been described as "death metal's first archetypal document". One music biographer has referred to Schuldiner as the "father of death metal" while another has claimed that Schuldiner is "readily acknowledged as the true founder of the U.S. death metal scene". Music biographer Garry Sharpe-Young considers Death "a genre breaking band...centred upon frontman Chuck Schuldiner" and that the band "would become one of the prime instigators of the Death Metal movement". However, Schuldiner dismissed such attributions by stating, in an interview with Metal-Rules.com, "I don't think I should take the credits for this death metal stuff. Technically challenging, but very melodic. Lots of time changes, lots of tempo changes, and great arrangements. It's progressive, hard-as-crap to play and it's all very, very musical. Albums like Conspiracy, Them, The Eye etc. are all classics and Andy La Rocque's fabulous guitar playing shines on every single track.
