This is the best opportunity for India to grow like Germany, if India miss this opportunity then it will never catch up with China.
The reason that India does not Need to get large amounts of Oil/Gas from Russia are the Transport Costs to get it from Russia. It takes at least 2 weeks to get Russian Oil/Gas from a Russian Port, while you can get Oil/Gas from the Mid-East in a day or two. So, while the Gas/Oil from Russia may be Cheaper, the Transport Cost in Not. Even with Russian Gas/Oil is cheaper per barrel, the overall cost per barrel is still higher than getting it from Mid-East which is Lot cheaper due to Transport Cost. India's support for Russia has very little to do with Energy, it has mostly due to military material procument. More than half of India's Air Force is dependent Russian Tech and supply, including it latest fighter aircraft. The Aircraft is produced in India based on Russian design.

Just read the list of things Joker wants the world to impose on Russia in order to end the war. You would be mistaken to think that he has won the war. BASF shut down in Germany and its citizens are in cold and out of work for supporting Ukraine. I hope the representatives of people know what their people want.

Russian discounts are not too much either they are just subsidised majorly to cover the added transport costs from Russia rather than the gulf.
We understand India's attitude toward Russia and the west will not forget it.
